Xuan Liu, a steady but peripheral Canadian poker player, logged modest cashes in 2025, like $6,400 at WPT Rolling Thunder, while hinting at a balanced year after an exhausting 2024. Her relaxed tweets and YouTube posts keep her visible, not spotlighted.

Liu's 2025 Off to a Subdued Start

Xuan Liu, a familiar name on the Canadian poker circuit, remains a steady but outside presence in 2025. She’s logged several cashes in notable tournaments recently, without stealing the spotlight.

On March 16th, 2025, Toronto’s Liu placed 49th in the $3,500 WPT Rolling Thunder event in Lincoln, California, earning $6,400. On March 6th, she finished 46th in the $3,000 Wynn Millions Championship in Las Vegas, claiming $10,613.

Her best recent showing was in December 2024, taking 10th in the $10,100 No Limit Hold’em 8-Max at the WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas for $26,250. These results prove she’s still a little bit in the mix, but not the headliner.

Did Liu Hint at a Quiet Year in Late 2024 Interview?

Further back, Liu’s career had its moments. She made waves with a 2023 cross-Canada poker challenge, growing a $2,000 bankroll into a $50,000 bonus.

As a WPT Global ambassador since extending her contract in 2024, she’s a recognizable face. In a December 2024 Poker.org interview, she admitted streaming losses but found solace in private games (Craig Tapscott). She described an exhausting 2024, saying she could handle “brutal hours” for weeks, then needed breaks.

This was surely a hint at a more balanced 2025. From that point of view, it’s not surprising she’s been a bit low-key this year, given that late-2024 reflection.

Liu Remains Active With Social Media Presence

Her recent tweets (@xxl23) offer a glimpse into her low-key grind and what she’s been up to lately. In late March, she said she was “Playing poker and doing Florida things,” hinting at a casual trip.

She also has regular postings to her YouTube account. Late in March, she shared a 13+ minute video narrating hands, including an A2 hand that could have been a fiasco, except she won at a showdown despite not improving against three players (that's hard to do).

Embedded below, it's one of those hands where she may have thought she was bluffing after the river, but, as we can see, her ace-high would have won in a showdown. For poker fans, it’s a fun watch, blending strategy with her relaxed style.

It doesn't seem like he is chasing the spotlight right now. But her cashes keep her relevant, her ambassador role keeps her visible, and her online presence keeps her engaging.
